Eco Friendly Cupcake-Muffin Liners
Monday May 26, 2008 :: by Ingrid
Recently, I purchased unbleached cupcake-muffin liners made by If You Care as part of my efforts to turn the kitchen into an eco-friendly kitchen.
I’ve read mixed reviews about this brand. Some say these liners falls off the cupcakes or muffins and don’t like that it does; others prefer it falls away as opposed to struggling with peeling the paper from it. My understanding from reading about this product is that it is not meant to stick.
My plan is to use these liners in a bit of a novel way and make raw cupcakes and muffins using a dehydrator. The outcome has yet to be determined. Stay tuned.
These liners, as well as other unbleached paper products, are beige or brown in color in comparison to similar products bleached with chlorine in order to make the paper fibers look white and brighter.
The use of chlorine contributes to the contamination of our water, soil and food supply, and this is one of the key reasons why I have chosen to purchase unbleached products.
On the side of the box in which these liners are packaged list benefits of using this product, here are some:
- * Will not affect the taste of the food in it
- * Reduces the amount of chlorine in our environment
- * Landfill safe
- * Non-toxic when incinerated
- * Environmentally safe
Another unbleached cupcake-muffin liner brand I found is

It is environmental illiteracy and a complete lack of forward thinking to ignore the need to halt and then reverse population growth in the context of climate change, congestion, unaffordable housing, and resource depletion
I love these! I like the fact that they are not brightly colored, letting the beautiful cupcake/muffin decorations shine through instead of overwhelming them.
I absolutely love these muffin liners. My family likes to eat muffins when they are warm, which is next to impossible if you use conventional paper liners. Half of the muffin ends up sticking to the paper. I put up with the small inconvenience of the papers falling off sometimes, because they are eco-friendly and we do what we can to be green. I also like that natural look of the brown paper.
I really wanted to like these. However, they kept falling off of the cupcakes. That’s fine if you are going to eat them right away, but it didn’t work for my needs.
Green Thinking ~ true, if more of us widened our vision to see the big global picture, there would be major and rapid change and a foreseeable positive impact on our environment.
Celine & Toontz ~ thank you both for your feedback. I will post my thoughts on how these liners work when I use them. I’m guessing that I’ll like the fact that it falls away from the muffin or cupcake.
Stef ~ well, at least you gave it a try.
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and comments.
