Tuesday August 19, 2008 :: by Ingrid
This is a green juice tonic I enjoy as my breakfast juice or anytime of the day or night. It is loaded with antioxidants, dietary fiber, and is calcium-rich, and isn’t the color gorgeous!
Each natural organic ingredient offers great nutritious benefits:
Celery contains potassium, vitamin C, B’s, and K, a bit of dietary fiber, to name a few.
Cucumber is great for the skin, contains vitamins A & C, potassium, magnesium and more.
Spinach is a good source of iron, minerals, dietary fiber, vitamins A and C, it contains some protein, and the list goes on.
Parsley is an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and K, and a good source of iron and folate.
Golden Delicious Apple rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, and provides natural sweetness.
All this green goodness is in one glass!

What a beautifully-vibrant color. I’d love to try this lovely and healthy concoction. Thank you.
Marysol - Thank you for your comment. I am no stranger to green juices and smoothies. The past 3 weeks I’ve upped my green juice intake by having one everyday, sometimes twice a day. Please do try it and if you are interested, I have many more healthy concoction to share as well as some great online sources for inspiration.
I drink green “lemonade” every morning, I am pretty addicted to it at this point. I will try this for a change of pace, thanks.
Jen - Thanks for stopping by! Green lemonade ~ I would like to know your recipe. I wonder if it is similar to my recipe for Frothy Ginger Infused Limeade. I just love lime and drink this often. I like to switch things up with my green drinks that I’ve been consistently drinking daily for 3 weeks straight now.
Gee, another green drink for me to try? You are turning me into a green drink chick. Well, bring it on! I’ve tried your Ginger Infused Limeade and it was so good. I didn’t think I would want to try a green veggie drink but your photo is so pretty it actually makes it look appealing.
Zara - I am glad that I inspire you to drink your greens!
Ingrid I love your blog so much your cookies are so well prepared. You have a great talent. I am so proud of you.
Shernell - I am so pleased that you my recipes. Thanks so much for the great compliments. I stopped by your blog and I am adding it to my blogroll called “Raw Dedicated”. I love it when I discover more wonderful raw food and lifestyle site, like yours!
Forget eating our greens! This is the way forward.
Graeme - Yes it is indeed it is the way forward! Thanks for stopping by and I absolutely love the style and images of your blog.
I also make this drink. The only other ingredient I add is a small piece of ginger. Super yummy!
K - As I wrote in this post, I drink this often. This morning I tried it your way by adding a 1 inch piece of fresh ginger to the juicer. I’m literally drinking this lovely juice now, as I write. The ginger does not overpower this drink but adds an ever-so-slight spicy flavor. What is the ginger ratio you put in your juice? Thanks for sharing this tip.
Everytime I see a juice post it makes me want to run out and buy a juicer. Especially this one. Looks awesome.
Casi - Thank you! A juicer is a great investment! There is nothing like juicing your own fresh organic fruits, vegetables, or combination of the two. You know it is 100% wholesome and so delicious plus you can experiment with different flavor combination that suit your taste.
I haven’t gotten to “raw” yet, but am a flexitarian, working towards full vegetarian. I do alot of green drinks cuz I don’t really enjoy salads every day. I add kale, a beet, carrot, ginger, and lime to your list of ingredients…it feels so healthy going down doesn’t it?!! Also, everything I have read, suggests drinking juiced drinks within 30 minutes to get all the benefits…so I do my best to do that also. Just found your blog and love it…thanks for sharing your recipes!!
Cheryl A - Flexitarian! I love it!!! That is the best way to be. That is great that you drink lots of green drinks, it is a great way to get your daily greens. It’s like a liquid salad or a salad in a glass - so healthy and good for you. You are right, you gain the most nutritional benefits from drinking fresh juices soon after they are made. I begin drinking mine immediately after I make the juice, I don’t gulp, I usually drink it within 10 minutes.
Thank you for the comment and I hope you will visit again soon.
Okay, this drink looks so good I’m going to try it. I’m just a little gun shy, because last time I put greens into my juicer it burned out:(
Do you have any tips? Maybe I put them in a little to fast?? I like the idea of the cucumber. Nice and refreshing.
Marilyn - The burn-out, jamming, getting stuck, whatever you call it sometimes happens when you push down too many greens at a time. I’ve had this happen. I’m not certain the exact cause, perhaps it has something to do with going against the grain? What I do is alternate, for example, I start with a stalk of celery, then a slice of apple, then a fist full of spinach, a cucumber, then a fist full of spinach, an apple slice, spinach, celery…….. you get the picture. Try alternating next time and let me know if that works for you. Thanks for stopping by.
I’ve been hearing about juicing…but do not have a juicer! I wonder if a blender would work, then straining it?
Alicia - Yes, a blender can work but is better for making smoothies rather than juices. To start, you might like to try chopping up watermelon, cantaloupe or any of the other wonderful melon varieties, add a little water (about 1/4 - 1/2 cup) and blend. Though I have a juicer, I’ve been blending melons and love it. In fact, I blended watermelon with 1/3 cup water this morning and yesterday morning blended St. Claus melon. The best way I can describe the end result is like a chunky melon juice. If you are planning on delving into the world of fresh juices, invest in a good juicer. It will be well worth it in so many ways.
I absolutely love the look of a fresh green juice (or smoothie). It’s the perfect color of green (usually) and is so inviting. And your list of yummy ingredients makes it that more inviting. :)
Heidi - I love green drinks and the more I make and drink them, the more I find them so very appealing. Thanks for stopping by. :-)
BEAUTIFUL site! YUMMY post! Wee! :o)
Isle Dance - Thank you!
Looks delicious! I need to dig my juicer back out. I have four square feet worth of kale plants in the garden ready to be harvested soon.
Hi Peggy - How lucky are you! If you tired of all the fresh kale, you can send it to me, I love kale! Definitely, pull your juicer out and put it to work. How do you plan to use all that delicious kale? Will you post recipes?
