Vita-Mix 5200
December 12, 2008

The right kitchen tools are essential for preparing food. One such tool falls in the category of blenders. This high-quality blender is extremely popular among many who love to prepare good food, and it has become a necessity in the raw food kitchen. It is the Vita-Mix.
Most raw foodists I know own one, and I’ve heard time and time again that they’d be lost without it. I’d be lost without mine too. I have a clear memory of my previous blender, the one I had when I started my raw food diet. Though I am grateful that I had a blender to use, when I tried to move beyond smoothies and expand my culinary range, the results weren’t nearly as wonderful as what I enjoy now, with the help of my Vita-Mix.
The Vita-Mix is a powerhouse! I love the way it sounds when in operation it has incredible horsepower. The rotating force of its blades enables it to liquefy frozen fruits or crush ice in seconds. Food prep is much faster and effortless. It will be a faithful assistant in your kitchen, helping to make healthy, delicious food in no time for you to enjoy.
This superb tool comes with two containers, one with a wet blade for wet or liquid foods; one with a dry blade for grinding and chopping nuts, seeds, and other dry foods. Enjoy making smoothies, soups, sauces, blended juice, and more. The nice thing with the Vita-Mix is that it comes with a tamper, which helps push the food down into the blades to help it mix.
Another great thing, cleaning the Vita-Mix is a breeze. It’s as easy as putting a drop of liquid soap in the container, fill with water, blend for 30 seconds to a minute, then rinse out the container and you are all set for another use.
I’ve spoken to lots of friends about the raw food diet and the Vita-Mix comes up in most of these conversations. “You spent how much on a blender”? This is generally the reaction I get when asked how much I spent on my blender. I always tell them with absolute confidence that the investment is well worth it. Yes these blenders start at around $450, however, this is one of those purchases where the quality of the product makes it worth the money spent. Plus, it’s backed with a 7-year warranty. If you are ever in the market for a new blender, I highly recommend considering the Vita-Mix.
This blender is absolutely amazing and I wish everyone owned one. Out of all the blenders I’ve owned, the Vita-Mix is by far the best and I’m a beyond thrilled to be able to offer this amazing gift to one of my readers! I am extremely grateful to the people at The Vita-Mix Corporation for their generous contribution to Raw Epicurean’s Healthy Holiday Giveaway and to one of you!

a legitimate break from my taxing 80 hour work week, that’s taking a hugh toll on my body and mind.
Rachel an 80 hour work week! I thought 60 hours was a lot, that’s intense!
Oh wow. I am so grateful for power, heat and running water. If these blessings are all I receive this Christmas, I am one very happy camper! :o)
Isle Dance – these are things most of us take for granted, I’m sure. I hope you have enough of all there now, for Christmas, and beyond.
I am thankful for my family. They truly keep me going through the toughest times! And not just this holiday season, but every day of my life!!
Eva – That is so nice to hear. :-)
Ingrid,
First of all,I am so impressed by what you’ve created with your blog this year. All the education, interviews, and giveaways…just awesome!
I am currently grateful for my faith, family & friends. I feel a sense of purpose and contentedness in my daily life, of which their is no greater blessing to me.
Thank you for all you do!
Penni, thank you for your kind words. Faith, indeed! Faith turns twigs to trees. This is what my Christmas cards (made from recycled paper, of course) say.
I am grateful for my family. They are the backbone of my life. Without them, I don’t know how I could’ve made it this far. We all pull together during rough times, like this economic season to support and encourage each other. They are truly a blessing.
Cheris – Family is indeed a blessing.
I am most grateful to have someone who really loves me for who I am and all the craziness that comes with, having that makes life more enjoyable for myself.
Mari – I had giggled then smiled reading this. Isn’t it nice to be free to just be YOU, and be accepted. I think we can call that unconditional love. :-)
OMG I would be so ridiculously excited to win a a Vita-Mix! What an amazing giveaway!
This holiday season, I am grateful for supportive friends and loved ones, a stable (for now) job, my puppy who loves me unconditionally, and all the tiny pleasures of the season.
Hi Courtney, thanks for sharing. Puppies are amazing loving animals. :-)
I am most grateful for my family, finding a raw food life-style that positively changed my health condition and sites like yours that educate and give raw foods a nice aesthetic touch!
Umm Nassim family, friends, and great health mean everything! Thanks for sharing.
I am most grateful for my new-found health and vitality, and the amazing sense of community I have discovered since adopting a raw foods lifestyle. I am richly blessed.
Boldog Karácsonyt, Ingrid!
Earthmother – Boldog Karácsonyt! (That means Merry Christmas in Hungarian.)
I am incredibly grateful for all those people who help us, even if it’s in very little ways, without any second intention in mind and also grateful that I’m able to help some out there as well. :)
What are you you most grateful for this holiday season, Ingrid?
Hi Katia, thank you for asking. :-) There are many things, like the love and support of my family and dear friends, near and far.
I’m especially thankful Peter and I relocated back to the States to be near my mother, and we are now near most of our immediate family.
I am grateful for the blessing of overall good health and well-being, for all the things I’ve learned and experienced this year, and all the wonderful new friends that have come into my life. Oh I can’t leave out my cats, I adore them. I love animals!
There are so many things.
I am most grateful for my loved ones. It is nice to live close to them and see family and friends regularly. & my boyfriend has been just amazing lately. I don’t want to imagine life without the people I love! & of course, my dogs count as loved ones too. :)
Hi Jessica – I know, I have a laundry list of things to be thankful, the things on the top of my list a similar to yours. We’re lucky. :-)
I’m totally with Penni. Ingrid girl, you’ve done an a-ma-zing job with this blog and your other raw projects. Do you ever sleep? lol And a special kudos for your 1st Annual Healthy Holiday Giveaway; I don’t remember having so much educated fun on the net!
Right now, I am particularly grateful for the people in my Life. This year has brought two of my closest ‘virtual friends’ and raw food enthusiasts, Heathy and Mosaica, by my side. The kitchen remains the place where I spend most of my time and to have the opportunity to prepare food with others is such a blessing. You wouldn’t believe the fun we’ve been having behind the counter; dancing away to 80’s music while preparing gorgeous dishes (not to mention desserts!)
Wishing you a lovely and joy-full Holiday Season, dear Ingrid, with heaps to be grateful for!
LOL!!! Aw Carmi, thank you so much. Did you say 80’s music, I love it! Oh, I can believe and imagine you ladies are having a blast in the kitchen. I hope you will share your creations (which I know will be amazing) with us on your fabulous site!
I am grateful for my family, friends (including online bloggy ones!) and my pets. I am also grateful that I have a roof over my head, a job and plentiful food. I am grateful for the basic things that we sometimes take for granted, those are the truly important things in life.
hugs!
Hugs to you Carrie, so true the basic or little things mean so much!
This holiday season, I am most grateful that I feel so loved and supported by my mother and brother. And that they feel the same about me. It hasn’t always been so. I really really look forward to the lovely healthy holiday meals we create together – nourishment for the body of the souls I love. We don’t exchange gifts, but if we did (and they had $$$$) a Vita-mix would be on the very top of my list. There are so many recipes I want to try that require a Vita-mix. My ancient blender is woefully inadequate for the raw soups I want to prepare this time of year.
Ishkadebble – I feel the same as you, I love creating and sharing delicious healthy food with family and friends. It’s such a good feeling.
I am thankful for family and friends, my job, and the incredible support found in others, online and otherwise. A blender like this would enable me to show those I care about how easy and delicious it is to eat raw, hopefully getting them to eat healthier so they can be with me on earth longer!
Hi Angela – …”so they can be with me on earth longer!” Longevity, one of the things I believe most of us truly desire. It sounds like you are working to inspiring your family toward greater health. That’s wonderful!
This is easy!
I am most grateful this season for Family and Friends and the endless possibilities that tomorrow holds!
Hi Jodi – …”the endless possibilities that tomorrow holds!” I like that!
I am grateful for having a wonderful loving family and a very amazing circle of friends. I’m also very thankful for my very fulfilling job and for being very very blessed.
Hi Christiane That’s wonderful and thank you for sharing. :-)
I’m grateful to have amazing, supportive friends and a wonderful partner in my life; especially in these extremely challenging times.
Hi Sue – Definitely, supportive loved ones mean a lot.
This holiday season Im so grateful for the wonderful time I’m having with Carmi in her sunny raw kitchen. It is always a blessing to spend time with my dear friend, but it feels extra special to be together during the holidays. Im also grateful to return home in time to spend Christmas with my boyfriend and family – no work, just play – yay!!!
Ingrid, Happy Holidays for you – thanks for all that you give to the raw community :D
I am very grateful for my health and body. They are always working for me! I am so glad that I appreciate that too.
Very simple… my husband. :)
Lauren – that is sweet.
I am most thankful for my family and friends and I’m grateful for the joy and love the holiday season brings.
Hi Harriet – thanks Sis for stopping by. I’m grateful for you too! :-)
Congratulations to Carrie of LoLa Bloom, she won a Vita-Mix 5200!!! Thank you all for participating and sharing what you are most grateful for this holiday season. Happy Holidays!!!
I’m most grateful for my family and my health!
Your blog definitely encourages me to eat better :) Thanks!
Thank you Annie! Here’s to family and good health!
I might be too late for the Vita-Mix, but I am still thankful.
I’m thankful for my intuition (honed over my almost 30 years) to have a sense that my body is talking to me and telling me what it needs in terms of healthy diet and skincare.
And thankful for the internet and god’s shining on ordinary folks who come forward to share powerful information for healing…
Of course family & friends, too. ;-)
It may be corny but it’s so true. I love having my family & friends in my life all the time. I am also thrilled to have the chance to win a Vitamix especially since my roommate is about to take her blender with her and I cannot buy a replacement.
I am most grateful for my family’s health and happiness (that includes my little parrot Bebop!)
I am most grateful for… many things…. but in this moment the very good friends I’ve made in my new town. I have a new family that I never anticipated! And my cats, just because they are awesome. :)
