Apple Watercress Drink

Apple Watercress Drink

Juice feasting, aka juice fasting, has taken center stage in my diet. I’ve fasted on herbal tea and water several times in the past, but this is my first juice feast and I’m excited about it.

I began a modified juice feast, consuming mostly juice and eating some light solid raw food three days before I officially began my juice feasting on March 1st. I’ll be drinking juiced fruits and vegetables, plenty of water, and some herbal tea anywhere from 8 to 21 days, maybe longer. It all depends on what exactly, I don’t know, I just plan to listen to the wisdom of my body, or a serious craving, to determine when to go back to solid food. So, here it is day 4 on the juice feast and all is going well. I feel great, don’t have any craving or desire for solid food, and I’m full of energy.

Are you juice feasting? There are many people I know who are and we support each other with encouragement and information. If you have questions, need encouragement, or would like to join a support group, there are plenty of great online groups you may consider joining, here are just a few:

So what sort of juices did I drink today? This morning I drank only water until around noon, then I made 24 ounces of Gorgeous Green Juice Tonic, with a couple added ingredients – kale and MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane), an organic source of sulfur. Later in the afternoon I drank 16 ounces of carrot and orange juice, and early evening I drank 16 ounces of coconut water, and later this evening I’ll make this recipe, Apple Watercress drink.

Apple Watercress Drink

2 apples, cored, stem end removed
2 celery stalks
1 bunch watercress
1 grapefruit, juiced

Juice the apples, celery stalks and watercress in a juicer. Manually juice the grapefruit with a citrus juicers or juice press. Pour the juices in a glass, stir and serve.

What a delicious sounding drink! And the color is absolutely gorgeous…

I’ve never tried juice fasting before, but I wish you the best of luck. And I have to admit – you’ve almost convinced to try a fast based on this drink alone :)

    Cool.

Thanks JD! If you ever do decide to juice feast know that you can do it anytime for any length of time that suits you. You can do a 1 day, 3 day, 5 day, a week, etc. You may even consider a modified juice feast/fast – for example drinking juices morning and afternoon and enjoying solid food in the evening.

Penni over at Real Food Tulsa has been vlogging her own 21 Day Feast. I committed to doing at least 32 ounces of green juice or smoothie each day with her. Even though it’s been pretty freakin’ freezing here, I’ve been hanging in. Most days, surpassing the 32 ounces.

Gonna try out your lovely looking recipe. Thanks!

Earthmother – Good for you! I’m so glad you are committed to juice feast and that’s fantastic that Penni is helping you through it. Is this your first time juice feasting? I swung by Penni’s blog and saw her vlogging – she gives great info on the supplements. Do you use MSM or Spirulina? I do, but not always or that often. Hope you enjoy this drink, look out for more to come.

Wow. You know what? I really want to try this. I think I will.

I think I need to purchase a juicer, though.

I completed my first 30 day juice feast just a few weeks ago, and I really enjoyed it. I feel much lighter and more cleansed. I had to end it early because i’m gonna be on vacationing/traveling and will be without a juicer. I try to get in fresh green juice at least once a day. Once the whether gets much warmer I may wanna do other juice feasting. I’m adding watercress to my grocery list :)

That’s wonderful ~ congratulations Mari!!! So you were going for a longer juice feast, like 92 days perhaps? I’m impressed at 30 days! I’ve done several fasts lasting 8 days maximum, so once I reach day 8, I’ll take it from there and go with the flow.

I didn’t have a set plan for how long, just went with the flow too. Maybe someday I’ll try the 92 day fast/feast, but It would be a huge challenge…

This is a healthy and refreshing drink but the taste was a little bit strange the first time I tested it. I experimented a little bit to find out what components I could change or add to fit my taste and I found out that a small carrot mixt (taking carrot juice would work better I think) under this drink has a nice effect.
