Hi! I came across this page and website as I was googling raw food recipes. I added it to my favorites and noticed you have a prize giveaway for the Excalibur food dehydrator. My sister introduced me to raw foods last month when I went to stay with her in Calgary for 5 days. All we ate was raw food. She made the most delicious veggie burger I have ever eaten, and it was totally raw, and made entirely with her Excalibur food dehydrator. So, I’ve been limping it through ever since. I read, study, learn, book mark, and bought a few books. I soooooooo would love an Excalibur food dehydrator. I also have to buy a Vitamix she tells me. I thought, what the heck, maybe if I entered….. you never know. It would be such an awesome start to my raw food start. She sent me her best recipes, but I can’t use them til I purchase an Excalibur. So, I thought I would enter. Here’s hoping and wishing!!!! Raw food rules btw!!! – Marie Holt

I thought I would add an addendum. She made the most incredible Kale chips with her Excalibur. It was an amazing substitution for potato chips, and so much tastier. I couldn’t believe it!! She also made bread with it and we used the bread for the veggie burgers. I’ve always been looking for some answer to my prayers as far as diet are concerned. I think I’ve found it. I’m a type A blood type that is supposed to be vegetarian, meat makes me feel sick anyway, and I am so tired of feeling ill whenever I eat traditional food, cooked, processed or otherwise denatured. I am becoming a health conscious person who wishes to make a lifelong lifestyle change, lose 100 lbs, improve my health and vitality, and expand my knowledge base about nutrition. And I want to share it with others. I hope its not all too much information. :D Thanks – Marie

I purchased two books, one called “Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen” by Ani Phyo, and another called “RAWvolution” by Matt Amsden. It looks like a good start. I don’t know what other people put on their kale chips but my sister used minced garlic, minced red peppers, raw cashews, lemon juice, and red chili, nutritional yeast among other things. She created a paste she spread all over the kale leaves then put them in the dehydrator. OMG MAGIC!!! lol. If only I had experienced this 20 yrs ago. What an awesome substitute for chips for my kids. Okay, can you tell I’m excited!! LOL. Anyway, with the prize of an Excalibur dehydrator, it sure would help expense wise toward my buying a Vitamix next. Okay, I will stop bugging you!! LOL. – Marie

  5. Mary on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 4:56 pm

Because it’s an Excalibur, that’s why!! :) my three kids LOVE fruit leather & I’d love to be able to make some with their help at home. :) thanks for a great bog, too!!

  6. Marie Holt on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 4:56 pm

Did I mention I already grow a garden of veggies and herbs every year that I could dehydrate with the Excalibur? And I buy organic fruit I’d love to dehydrate into fruit treats and roll ups? Just thought I’d mention it!! :D – Marie

  7. Abby on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 4:59 pm

Hi! I love this blog, and I would LOVE to win one of the dehydrators so that I could make my own raw rosemary crackers. They’re so expensive, but I love them… this way I could enable my addiction all by myself ;)
    Thanks!

  8. Shannon, Tropical Eats on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 5:06 pm

I love dried fruit! It’s one of my favorite snacks. This dehydrator would be the perfect kitchen appliance :)

  9. Christiane on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 5:10 pm

I would love to win this Excalibur – why? Because they’re the best. =) I’ve got a few cracker and chip recipes I’d like to throw its way.

  10. Rawkstar on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 5:28 pm

WHAT!!!! An Excalibur Dehydrator giveaway???!!! I was just looking at some dehydrators to purchase! I have been raw for 4 years and was seriously just thinking maybe I should make the investment and buy one. This would be perfect for me, my kiddies and my wallet. (purchasing all that dried fruit gets expensive)

  11. mark Gris Pennington on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 5:36 pm

Excalibur, I wait by the hour.
Lady of the Lake, you have no need to bake.
Noble though you look, your real beauty is the secret of un-cook!

  12. Raecheal on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 5:42 pm

I would love the food dehydrator- we are already an all organic household and now I’m wanting to expand into making my own snacks for the kiddo’s lunchbox — and for the adults to snack upon as well :-)

  13. Leah on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 5:54 pm

Hi, I’m and avid reader of your blog. I would of course love to win an Excalibur dehydrator (I live in Canada though so am not sure if I’m eligible). Preparing raw food is one of my favorite things to do. Right now I’m working my way through the recipes in Sarma Melngailis’ new book and an Excalibur would be amazing to have! I currently use my oven on the lowest setting for anything that needs to be dehydrated, however I know things probably don’t turn out as well this way and are not totally raw. I would also like to try the mulberry jam recipe you posted awhile ago. Your blog is such a wonderful resource for great recipes and other useful raw food info – Thanks! Leah

  15. emily on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 6:04 pm

hi. first off i love this site. I am trying to go raw but i loved my steamed and warmed veggies. i think a dehydrator would be ideal because i need my veggies to be warmed at least a little. and i want to make cookies and fruit leathers. i have been collecting recipes off raw websites for the day that i get a dehydrator. i hope i win.

  16. Donna Hamilton on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 6:19 pm

Hello! I actually follow you on Facebook but since I have noooo poetic talent, I came over here. I have been vegan for about a year now and am slowly moving towards raw. I have been using my oven to dehydrate with mixed results so I would love to win the dehydrator! Thanks for your Facebook page and all the great ideas you give me:)

  17. Hannah on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 6:34 pm

I have been dreaming of owning my very own Excalibur dehydrator for what seems like forever! I have been drying to try my hand at making my own raw crackers and eggplant “bacon.”

  18. Angie on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 6:38 pm

Oh, I want one of these so bad — my boyfriend and I already love eating raw, and we’re ready for crispy kale chips and crunchy cacao nib cookies! It would also be lovely to dry our own snacks for the road, like fruits or crackers. The blender is currently my most-used piece of equipment in the kitchen, but I’d love to give it a little competition with a dehydrator. :)

  19. Caitlin on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 6:47 pm

oh my goodness!! this has been on my christmas wish list for two years! please please please!!

  20. Shannon on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 6:55 pm

i am not on facebook and i don’t tweet, but i would LOVE to make raw macaroons and crackers!!

  21. Edward Heisler on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 7:24 pm

Amazing that I just began my conversion to raw food eating a month ago and was researching dehydrators to expand my bare pantry of foods. I settled on the Excalibur line due to their great reputation, quality, and efficiency. They were clearly the creme de la creme of consumer dehydrators and the 5 tray suits my needs adequately. Now tonight I open up my e-mail from the RawEpicurean and the Universe brings me closer to my vision of owning an Excalibur dehydrator. Wow! Thanks so much for being part of my process during my journey of the raw food lifestyle! I’d love to receive my dream dehydrator from YOU!

  22. ChocolateOrchid on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 7:31 pm

Oh, how I’d love to win this dehydrator! I’d love to make crackers, dehydrate sprouted nuts, snacks and all kinds of wonderful goodies. I’ve read so many great reviews about the Excalibur brand.

  23. Nyisha on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 7:40 pm

I’ve been researching, learning about and trying Raw & Live food for me and my family for almost a year. Getting my husband (who is 10 years older than me) on board has taken some creative debating. Although, after several 3-day and 7-day trial runs, he is more convinced of the benefits. Unfortunately, I am still proving that it can be a practical way of life for me, him and our 2 year old son.
An Excalibur is the missing link in our journey into the raw/live food lifestyle. It would allow me to have the versatily and diversity in preparing meals that would get my husband 100% on board.
And after losing several family members to health related issues, I am determined to get my hubby healthier and keep him around as long as I can. :-) Winning this Excalibur would make me happier than when I discovered that I could be raw and still have chocolate (Raw brownies for the life long chocoholic)! :-)

    Love, Peace & Live Life,
    Nyisha

  24. Erin on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 7:46 pm

Holy smokes! What a great giveaway!

Why would I love to win one of these? I’m pursuing a shift to a more vegan/raw lifestyle, but my husband was raised as a Stouffer’s/meat-and-potatoes kind of guy. The bigger variety of raw vegan foods I can demonstrate (especially tasty snacks!), the more he’s willing to come on board. Lacking a dehydrator, there have been a number of tasty recipes I’ve had to wistfully scroll past. If I won one, we could really get down with our raw selves!

  25. Tamikko on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 7:50 pm

Oh My Oh my! I would love to win one because I really need the comfort of some familiar foods during this huge undertaking. I’m just about to go 100% raw, to lose this whole person that is stuck on me 24/7, trying to kill me before my time. I have been collecting recipes from amazing blogs to use with the Excalibur and I know its the best one to get :)
I live in Canada and would happily pay the shipping :) Thanks for the chance to win.

  26. katie on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 7:52 pm

I want a dehydrator so I can start eating more raw foods besides just salads and smoothies!

  27. Pure2Raw Twins on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 7:55 pm

We love the Excalibur dehydrator, can never have too many right? The ones we have are on all the time we love to make raw cookies, crackers, breads…just love it. : ) Awesome giveaway!!

  28. Jess on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 8:06 pm

I have been wanting to try including more raw foods in my family’s diet, this would definetly make it easier!

  29. Jennifer Valley on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 8:19 pm

I want a dehydrator because raw food is the best!

  30. Janine on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 8:30 pm

Ever since I discovered that I’m gluten and dairy intolerant last spring, I’ve become more interested in raw foods. I’d love to be able to make some raw crackers and cookies! I’d also like to try to use it to malt gluten free grains for homebrewing!

  31. Nicole on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 9:01 pm

I’d love to have a dehydrator so I could make some of the recipes I’ve drooled over in my raw food books. I recently ordered some flaz crackers on the web just to try them because I think having them occasionally would really help me stay away from cooked bread. I could also dehydrate my own fruit…mmm, dried mango!

  32. angelina Elliott on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 9:48 pm

    Hello Love,
I could really use a new excalibur, because I use them constantly, and MINE ARE FALLING APART! I would love, love, love, love, love a new one! I appreciate you! Thanks so much for this golden opportunity!
    Love and blessings,
    Angelina

  33. aine on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 9:51 pm

Thanks for this opportunity to win an Excalibur dehydrator! I am a high raw foodist of several years and an Excalibur has been on my “wish list” for over 3 years; having one would enable me to further my adventures in exploring raw food recipes. I have done a bit of raw dehydrated stuff using a second hand snack master but my dream has been to “up grade” to an Excalibur (& not have to think in circles always;)-lol. I have been saving towards one; but other bills and obligations keep getting in my way…this would truly thrill me to win…Thanks again

-hey btw I just started on twitter the other day(decided to get “with-it”-lol…I am following but still learning the way ’round things; so I’ll see you there now too!!!…love your blog, love your tweets and love you on FB!!!

  34. Rachel on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 10:09 pm

Hi, I would love to win an Excalibur!! And this is the exact one I would buy if I could afford it. A while back I had to make a choice, and decided to invest in a good blender first (Blendtec). But there is so much I could do with this dehydrator – gets me excited just thinking about it. Plus, I could stop wasting produce as I could dehydrate the excess.

  35. Samantha Weinstein on December 6, 2009 Sunday, 11:36 pm

Amazing holiday giveaway!!! I am a college student and began to make the shift to raw food about two months ago after reading this blog. I am currently doing as best as I can with a little $20 Hamilton beach blender as pretty much my only equipment, and am living off of salads and smoothies. I am obsessed with Sarma Melngailis’s “cook”books and would LOVE to be able to make her creations, but most of them require a dehydrator. This is All I Want For Christmas!!! PLEASE pick me!

  36. Jamie on December 7, 2009 Monday, 12:19 am

I’ve been wishing and hoping for a food dehydrator for some time. As well as a Vita Mix blender. I’m so eager to take my RAW-volution to the next level with an Excalibur food dehydrator…thanks for the chance to win!

  37. Joel on December 7, 2009 Monday, 1:55 am

I’ve been considering a dehydrator to help jump start a more raw lifestyle. The past few months my interest in raw foods has increased, but it’s been hard to make much of a transition without a dehydrator. We’ve tried a few recipes in the oven on low heat, but it’s hard if not impossible to regulate the heat to ensure that the temperature doesn’t get to warm. A dehydrator is on our wishlist, but not something we’ve been able to prioritize, yet.

  38. Leah on December 7, 2009 Monday, 1:58 am

    two words: Kale Chips.

I think that really says it all.

    :)

  39. Cruiso on December 7, 2009 Monday, 2:01 am

I want one so I can learn more raw foods and eat better (oh, and warm foods!!!!). I’ve been putting off buying one as I’m moving to another country in a few months where there’s an entirely different electrical system (so can’t really take it with me) and I’m trying to get rid of things not buy more things, but I still want a dehydrator! Especially an Excalibur.

  40. Sharonda on December 7, 2009 Monday, 3:27 am

I think it is awesome that you are sponsoring this give away! I would like a dehydrator to help me stay raw when I have the craving for bread and crackers. I believe it will also help me cut down on waste. :)

  41. Karena Thurston on December 7, 2009 Monday, 3:29 am

I always wish the tools of raw were cheaper! An Excalibur giveaway?!! DELIGHT! Apples, tomatoes, mangoes, pineapple, carrot chips, banana chips, kale chips, potato chips, crackers, breads, fruit leather, oh my!

  42. Michelle on December 7, 2009 Monday, 3:32 am

I am grateful for the opportunity to receive my new Excalibur dehydrator to use for transforming my inner self to reflect the love for life that I feel and oneness with all within my heart divine. My dehydrator will also be used for my wellness program I’m creating to introduce individuals to Raw Food and its miraculous powers of transformation and healing of body, mind and spirit. Thank you for gifting me divine that the glory of my creator may forever shine.

  43. Nadia on December 7, 2009 Monday, 3:53 am

Hi! I’m in my fourth year of undergrad, and will be graduating in May. Not only would this be the perfect graduation item, but I have been planning to upgrade my raw food intake as I move out of my fourth year, and into law school next fall! That’s right, law school. I’ll be busy, stressed, but doing what I love, and having the right tools for nutrition that makes me feel great would be super!

  44. Kecily on December 7, 2009 Monday, 4:29 am

I’ve been vegan for 5 years now and I’m now discovering the handsomeness of raw food. But so many recipes call for a dehydrator! I so much wish I had one ^_^

  45. Kat on December 7, 2009 Monday, 4:50 am

Why do I want a dehydrator? Well, beyond the obvious – to experiment with all the yummy-looking recipes I’ve been coming across – I actually want it to help me cut down on waste. Nut milk waste, that is – I’d like to be able to dehydrate what’s left over after straining so I can use it for other things. And then, once I get a juicer, I can use it to make juice pulp crackers and other tasty things. Plus homemade dried fruit to use the summer harvest – yum!

  46. Sarah on December 7, 2009 Monday, 4:55 am

Thank you so much for the opportunity to join in such an amazing give-away. Owning an Excalibur has been a dream of ours for years, but other things keep creeping up and using the funds needed to make this purchase. My children have never tasted a raw, live, fruit leather. Without a Raw Restaurant nearby, they’ve never even had gourmet raw treats. I do the best I can to make raw food interesting for my friends and family, but owning this Excalibur would open a whole new world to those I love and care about the most. If my family is chosen to welcome this Excalibur into our loving home, then we’d be sure to post a blog and video sharing a yummy treat we prepare. Thank you!!! Have great week! ~Sarah

  47. Ed on December 7, 2009 Monday, 5:08 am

    Hi.

I would like to win a dehydrator for my daughter in NYC. She has a blender and would love to use a deyhdrator.

    Thanks.

    -Ed

  48. Living A Whole Life on December 7, 2009 Monday, 5:58 am

Wow! Not sure how you pulled this off, but how awesome! I would absolutely love, love, love to win this handy little machine. What a merry Christmas! :)I have all kinds of fruits and herbs I would love to dehydrate. I’ve also started making my own skin care products and a dehydrator is perfect for making herb infused oils. Awesome giveaway.

    Karla

  49. Sue on December 7, 2009 Monday, 6:35 am

Wow! One of the things I would love for Christmas. I have wanted to do more and more raw foods but have been limited by my cheap circle one. I’ve been eyeing it for almost a year.

  50. Ashlei on December 7, 2009 Monday, 6:54 am

As a high raw vegan living with Crohn’s disease, a healthy lifestyle and diet is incredibly important for me to maintain to keep the symptoms of my disease under control, and many recipes on your website have helped me to just that, especially raw soups! With the use of an excalibur, I would be able to open up many more doors of raw food adventures than I currently can without the use of them. Besides being able to make raw treats with it, I would also be able to buy extra produce when in season and dry it out to enjoy during the off-season, knowing there are no added colors, flavors or preservatives added to it, but just the whole food in its natural state. I’d also love to be able to make dehydrated foods to give as gifts to friends and family to share with them how great adding raw foods to any type of lifestyle can be. Because it is winter the Excalibur would be put to good use to warm raw soups as well. As a graduate student with a limited budget, I’d love to add an Excalibur to my repertoire of kitchen tools – I could save money on food, help promote a more green lifestyle and environment, would be supporting an eco-conscious company with great products – and most-importantly, improving my health!

  51. Janice on December 7, 2009 Monday, 7:00 am

    YAY! GREAT giveaway!!

I can not tell you how much I want (need?) a dehydrator! I’ve been eating raw for about 4 months and the one thing that is really missing for me is the dehydrator. I’d love to be able to create some more ’savory’ dishes that require the use of a fabulous dehydrator like the Excalibur. I know I could buy a more inexpensive one, but it wouldn’t be the same. I also think I could bring my family more into raw if I had the dehydrator. I’ve been collecting loads of recipes and now just need the equipment!

Thanks for the chance to win!
    Janice

  52. MH on December 7, 2009 Monday, 7:07 am

the first item on the dehydration list would have to be kale chips – i miss crunchy salty things! i would probably launch into wraps next, as a new way to eat my salads. after that, i would conquer cookies, as all i can do now with my food processor are little cookie turds… delicious, but an acquired aesthetic :) and after those three victories, i suppose i’d feel much more confident about buying a raw un-cookbook, as i’d no doubt have the means to make more of the recipes therein.

regardless, cheers, and happy dehydrating (your tart looks delish)!

  53. MH on December 7, 2009 Monday, 7:10 am

oh oh oh: i forgot to add juice pulp crackers to my list. it would give me something constructive to do with my juice pulp (besides mock tuna salad, and composting) that would satisfy the crunch-lust!

  54. Jason Arno on December 7, 2009 Monday, 7:16 am

I would love to have an excalibur dehydrater but then again who wouldn’t want the best dehydrator on the market(or so i am told i never had one). But I would defianetly be great for my family and I. My kids love dehydrated fruits and love making them themselves even more. We have a dehydrator know that we got for Christmas one year but it does not seem to work the greatest and uses morte energy themn I would like. I am also starting up a potluck in my area with a few friends and would love to have a dehydrator of this quality to show friends and family the great tasting high vibration foods you can make with this machine.
Also as David wolfe always says why do you want herb 747 when you can have the top ten best herbs ever. Well I was gifted dehydrator #747 but would really like to be gifted the best dehydrator ever.

  55. Angel on December 7, 2009 Monday, 7:18 am

I am excited for the opportunity to win an excaliber food dehydrator.
I have wanted one for a long time, price has been prohibitive.
I would love to use it to dry fruits and veggies from our garden and as an important tool in transitioning our family to raw and throughout our post raw adventures.

  56. Mari T on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:01 am

It would make a great Christmas present for my friend who is interested in raw food. Having a dehydrator will make it a bit easier for her transition.

  57. Sarah on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:10 am

Wow, how generous you all are! Love your holiday spirit:)

As for why I’d like one… I’ve been drooling over the Excaliburs for more than a year. But as a mom with a young son, a mortgage and a recent paycut, it just hasn’t happened yet. We love raw food and eat as much of a high raw diet as we can without a dehydrator. Having one would really put together the other piece of the puzzle for us. :)

  58. Zoe on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:27 am

I would love an excalibur! I would use it to death, I promise :)

I have so many dehydrated recipes I want to try and nothing to make them with. Plus I could save a lot of money from not having to buy dehydrated goodies from the store.

  59. Earth Mother – In The Raw on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:29 am

Cutest poem, Ingrid! You write that one yourself?

Why oh why? Because the Excalibur is the crème de la crème of dehydrators. And, hey, after 17 months or raw living, it’s high-time I had one in my kitchen!

  60. Tiff on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:34 am

Because it would open my raw food world up even more!

  61. Erin on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:40 am

I would love a dehydrator so I don’t have to keep my oven one for 4 days to dry out my fruit!! It would be a life saver! I am a pharmacy student and can’t afford to buy a dehydrator right now, but it would be so awesome to have one, so I can stay health-conscience!

  62. Aletheia on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:41 am

Dehydrator madness will occur!!! I’ve had a taste of homemade dried tomatoes and apple slices and won’t go back! Raw breads and crackers are my next territory of interest. :)

  63. Meghan-Rose on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:44 am

I’ve been trying to incorporate a lot more raw food into my diet, I’d say about only at about 40% raw right now and I see so many awesome recipes that require a dehydrator!! I know I could get a much higher % of raw food intake if I had one :)

  64. Kelsey on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:46 am

i would love to experiment with this :D

  65. birdfeed on December 7, 2009 Monday, 9:11 am

I would love this! Throwing my name in the hat.

  66. courtney Twomey on December 7, 2009 Monday, 9:16 am

My Good4U dehydrator recently broke :( And I have no idea/funding to fix this. Because of this, I have sadly not been able to be as raw as I would like to and have been spending too much money buying premade raw crackers and snacks that I would otherwise make in my dehydrator. I really really really would love to win this!!! It would make my Christmas dreams come true!!!

  67. Jenny C on December 7, 2009 Monday, 9:29 am

I have a dehydrator, but it doesn’t have fan. Tomatoes and such just don’t come out as well.

I would *love* to win a dehydrator because I really want to incorporate more raw foods into my diet, but you can only eat so many smoothies, pates, and salads! :) It would be fun to try out raw crackers and cookies.

Wow – owning one of these babies would allow me to take raw to a whole new level in our house. I am newly 80% raw and want to get my kids (3 and 1) as raw as possible too. Being able to recreate some of the foods they are most familiar with would be great. Thanks for the chance!

What would I do with a dehydrator…well being a college foodie and interested in “scientifically” experimenting with raw vegan food, this dehydrator would make my food life considerably more exciting and interesting!

This is the best giveaway in the history of giveaways. I have been wanting an Excalibur so badly, the Nesco I got for my wedding just isn’t cutting it. I haven’t convinced my husband to spend the money for an Exaclibur, so winning this giveaway would make all my holiday wishes come true!!

Are you kidding me? Excalibur give-away?! Why would not someone want one? Perfect Chrstimas gift for anyone, pefect way to make raw cerils, dehydrate nuts, make fruit roll-ups–you name it! Those are my reasons!

I have been getting into raw foods, and love how they make me feel! I actually already have an Excalibur (treated myself to it a couple months ago), and LOVE it! I’d like to give this Excalibur (if I win it) to a raw-curious friend of mine who can’t afford one right now.

  77. Jen Carlson on December 7, 2009 Monday, 7:24 pm

I had a daughter seven years ago and gained 65 pounds during my pregnancy. I am now 75 pounds heavier than I was pre-pregnancy. I’ve been eating junk food, drinking soda and filling myself with food that tastes good but ultimately makes me feel terrible for years. I’ve spent so much time not enjoying life. I work, go to school and raise her and found myself recently, on the verge of turning 28, realizing that I don’t love my life and don’t put 100% into any one area. Hate work, hate school, have no gumption to spend time with my girl. But then I got turned on to the raw food life style and on the day I turned 28 I adopted a new way of looking at the world. I embrace positivity, gratitude and love. I’ve made changes in my diet and my outlook that make me feel ALIVE for the first time in a long, long time. I’ve recently gotten a Vitamix, a food processor and ordered some things from Cafe Gratitude and HealthForce. My checkbook is tapped out. I’ve got a dehydrator on my list of things to buy but it’s going to be awhile before I can afford it. The Excalibur would help me see some of these amazing raw food recipes come to life!

  78. Candy on December 7, 2009 Monday, 8:10 pm

Several years ago I gave my old Excaliber to a family with a large garden, fruit trees and a tribe of children -they needed it more than I did. My kids were long out of the nest. This summer I began my raw adventure – and while I don’t regret the past, it would be so helpful (and fun!) to have that great tool again! Thank you for another chance to win a super prize.

    Hi :)

I have been getting e-mails from Raw Epicurean for a while now. I love the recipes you send me! I was e-mailed about your prize giveaway, and I would love to own a food dehydrator! I’m trying to get my whole family to eat more healthy, so a dehydrator would be perfect for our family! I also have a 1 year old, and I really want her to eat healthy. I could make so much for her! So exciting! All the possibilities of healthy snacks I could make. I’ve always wanted a dehydrator, but was always skeptical of the ones I saw. The Excalibur dehydrator 3500 5-Tray sure looks amazing……..hope to be 1 of the lucky 3 to own one!!! Thanks for such good recipes Raw Epicurean!! -Lindsay Furtick

I am on a journey of wellness and health. I am also on lots of miniature journeys. I dream of a small portable Excalibur food dehydrator to travel with me. Ah to enjoy the lusciousness of almond butter Cookies, scrumdillyisciouness of pecan sandies, and the all time favorite super macaroons.
Oh universe, when will my dream come true?

  82. Aprille on December 7, 2009 Monday, 9:35 pm

I’ve been doing high raw for over two years now & love it! I usually have 2 qts of green smoothies or juice daily, in addition to lots of fresh fruits & veggies. While I’m not 100% raw, I’d totally love to get a good dehydrator to add some more creative & varied options to my raw diet. I’ve been wanting this dehydrator for the past two years, but just haven’t had the money to invest in one yet. I saved up for my Hurom slow juicer first, now need a new blender & dehydrator! ;) good luck to all entrants!

I would love to win the dehydrator. I’ve just started with eating raw, and have my blender I got used from eBay, and my little Juiceman Jr. juicer. The dehydrator would give me a lot more options for creating pulp crackers and things. I have a lot of cookbooks that call for dehydrating and I can’t make some of the yummiest looking things!

I’d love to be able to make some dehydrated fruit or use some recipes that I’ve found and incorporate them into my raw lifestyle.

    Thanks!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to win such a wonderful prize :) Well, I would like to win because, as a humble public servant who works in community mental health, I cannot afford one right now but would really love to broaden my options with regards to raw foods, both for myself and for my patients (who have chronic mental illness). As we spoke of before, I brought my vita mix to the clinic and made green smoothies for the patients during the “health fair” (medical model oriented, mind you, except my booth) and my booth was a huge success. It would be great to make treats like kale chips, fruit leathers etc. and have them for patients to snack on! I can see their surprised faces as I type LOL. So, if I was to win such a wonderful prize, I would pay it forward by using it at my workplace and to plant more seeds with regards to using food as medicine. Peace and thank you Ingrid! andra

This year I had to borrow my neighbor’s dehydrator to finish drying all my summer produce. The motor in mine died early in the season.

I really wanted to order an Excaliber, but money’s tight in our house this year, so I wasn’t able to run out and buy one.

In our house, we grow quite a bit of food for ourselves as well as for weekly donations to the local foodbank. Believe me, we’ll put an Excaliber to good use.

Thanks for giving us a chance to win one!

I would love to win the Excalibur for my family as we are in the process of transitioning to Raw Foods. Most everything I’ve read confirms that the Excalibur is the best dehydrator out there. I am so excited about this journey and the health benefits to my family as we are hoping to reverse some health problems due to years of eating the Standard American Diet (SAD isn’t it). Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

  98. linda on December 8, 2009 Tuesday, 10:12 pm

sometimes, i make the wrong choices. i bought the wrong vitamix model (4500) and i can’t raise the dough to buy another one and, i bought the wrong dehydrator. i would just love the right dehydrator, the one that would allow me to warm up large bowls of food so i don’t have to eat cold things in the winter and i would love to make big pizzas instead of small round things that people think are fancy crackers. it’s all good though, just, smaller…and, a little colder.
    happy holidays and thanks!

I’ve been a raw foodist for several years. I love to experiment and develop new recipes and share them with my friends. One of my favorite recipes is for flax crackers.

When I developed the recipe I had one of those $40 donut-shaped dehydrator, and I was happy with it. A friend got so excited about raw food that I gave him my dehydrator, and I have been dehydrator-free for several months.

I have see what an Excalibur can do, and I would love to have one to continue with my experimentation and sharing of delicious raw food.

    Hello,

I have been on my raw journey for the past year or so (have been a vegan/vegetarian for the last 15 years). When I began learning more and more about the raw foods lifestyle, I was amazed with all of the creative options that were possible. In particular, I was most impressed with raw food cuisine’s use of the dehydrator as a simple appliance that allows for yummy and delicious dishes, recipes, and foods with their living enzymes intact.

I have been dream, dream, dreaming of one day having an Excalibur dehydrator so I can keep experimenting with new recipes and desserts, showing my friends and family how delicious and fun raw food cuisine can be!

The possibilities really are endless with an Excalibur dehydrator! :-)

    Well
I have been Raw for 1 week and been building up to that for few months now. I started to go Raw for Mental and physical reasons. I read Raw food helps the Thyroid and Depression. So I am going Raw, would Love a dehydrator to make more recipes but cannot afford one for a long time. I know you don’t require a Dehydrator for going Raw but it would help my diet considerably to diversify and give texture to foods and in the long run more fun with food and help me grow into the person I know I truly am…..
    Love your recipes :)***

  102. Dominique on December 9, 2009 Wednesday, 6:17 am

    Hi there!

Thank you so much for this website, it is such a wonderful resource and a real joy to read.

As far as why I would like an excalibur dehydrator…

I started my raw journey about one year ago as a peace corps volunteer, trying to cure myself of parasites and achieve optimum health. I had been a vegetarian for several years but really got into the high raw lifestyle once I found out I was intolerant to gluten and dairy. I love the creativity of “un-cooking” and have been helping my friends and family add more raw food into their diets(my mom is now obsessed with green smoothies!). I have recently made the commitment to go 100% raw, but I am concerned that this winter will be a struggle without a dehydrator as I do like cookies, nut bread, and veggie/nut burgers, which would be really hard raw to make without one. At the moment I really can’t afford to buy any dehydrator, as I just entered grad school and my part time job just covers my rent and food expenses. So I would be incredibly appreciative and beyond psyched to win a dehydrator (not to mention the lamborghini of all dehydrators that is the Excalibur). Thanks for offering this contest and keep up the good work on the website.

    Thanks,
    Dominique

P.S. I have a philosophy that cookies can save the world (think about it, if someone just unexpectedly gives you some homemade cookies it really makes your day). At the moment I can’t make them raw and have to give people cooked ones. I like to do this about once a week if I can find the time and extra cash for ingredients. If I had the Excalibur I would be spreading cookie happiness and promoting good health by making copious amounts of raw cookies and sharing them. Thanks for reading this really long post! Happy holidays, wishing you lots of cookies :)

  103. Ashley on December 9, 2009 Wednesday, 7:08 am

I would like the excalibur dehydrator because i live on a fruit grove and hate seeing any fruit go to waste, we cant eat it all so we need to dehydrate it. also I want to make crackers and i really want to try cheesey kale chips. :)

  104. Jane Kowalski on December 9, 2009 Wednesday, 8:37 am

I have 3 rickety “Ronco” type dehydrators that I cobbled together to make one working unit with enough trays to make a project worthwhile. But they’re round, and I can’t do a lot of crackers, breads, etc. I’d love a new Excalibur for Christmas!

  105. Rachael on December 9, 2009 Wednesday, 1:48 pm

I’ve been wanting a dehydrator forever but can’t afford it on a college-student budget! This would be the best Christmas gift ever.

  106. Maxxe on December 9, 2009 Wednesday, 4:36 pm

    Hello!

I would absolutely adore a dehydrator so that I might take it to the next level with deliciousness!! I recently became heavily involved with raw foods and even more recently, I took up the green smoothie revolution as told by Victoria Boutenko in the both Green for Life and of course, Green Smoothie Revolution. I am a graduate student at NYU studying a variety of sciences and philosophies and in the evenings, Im a receptionist for a holistic spa where I’d reckon that about 90% of our clients come in for colonics. This, as you could imagine, really supports my education in health (which has lead me straight to raw foods and green smoothies!) and in turn, I pay it forward by making sure to mention (and provide samples whenever possible) Victoria’s book (mention isn’t quite the right idea…more like impress upon them the dire importance that they read said book and take an interest in what they’re putting into their bodies) and the healing power of raw foods! I cant tell you how many times I have met someone who was previously or is currently suffering from a variety of SAD-induced diseases, i.e. cancers, certain diabetes, etc.,-and heard of their miraculous recoveries simply through thoughtful action with raw food.. thus! the importance of the dehydrator. I had a plan, a plan to first work towards a vita mix and then the dehydrator! However, the universe could smile my way and generously drop the dehydrator right into this very lap where I could in turn, use the dehyd. to pay it forward.
Also. As I have become so enamored with raw food and its innate flavors, I am strongly considering putting academia on the back burner (unlit of course!-we are talkin’ raw here) and attending Matthew Kennery’s raw chef certification academy in OKC where my mom lives. At my tender age of 23, I do indeed know that I must thoroughly think it out (as I have made many an impulsive decision-not always for the best! :/ )… However, this really special gift might unlock the raw gift to make it work, creating kinetic edibles-the kind of art that ultimately leads through a series of tunnels and passages to end up right here, in my belly!

  107. lisa reichert on December 9, 2009 Wednesday, 4:46 pm

    and alchemistneedler.blogspot.com
ooooh the reasons for wanting an excaliber dehydrating? I will just list the biggies.
instead of directing my patients to the raw food restaurant for the goodies i tell them about, i can offer an endless variety of samples for them when they come for an appointment! i have done this with all my gluten-free (and non-dehydrated raw) creations. and even offer classes!

i can recreate and maybe improve my favorite rawwich-the BLT at Karyn’s.

i can munch on kale chips whenever i wish

i dont have to eat overly dehydrated/cooked raw pizzas from an oven that won’t heat below 170 degrees!

i can be my healthiest with a greater option of culinary creations!

    thanks for considering, lisa

I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with different recipes and encouraging friends and family to taste them. But I’ve avoided recipes that require a dehydrator because I don’t have one. I know that would open up a whole new world of potential eating delights – wraps, crackers, snacks, desserts, yum! Please, please, please pick me!!

I’ve been dying to make some raw macaroons & some delicious raw eggplant bacon! I don’t even have a vita-mix (I know, taboo for a raw foodist! although I do have a decent $60 blender)! Please please please send me this dehydrator! I can’t even afford to fly home for xmas like my friends so I shall be alone! This sure would make up for the lack of company this holiday!

  121. Jamie on December 10, 2009 Thursday, 12:36 am

Hi there! So, here’s my story and why I want to win the Excalibur dehydrator. Six years ago, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to do everything I could to help my mother get better and fight it off either traditionally or with alternative methods. Whatever would kill it. It was at this time I discovered juicing. I was fascinated and inspired and so full of hope about what juicing could achieve. Unfortunately, my mom had some major complications and couldn’t keep anything down, including juice. Six months to the day later, she passed away.

A year later, I was diagnosed with lymphoma. Needless to say, my family was freaked. My mom had just died from cancer, after all. But, using what I learned during my mom’s illness, I chose an integrated path for my treatment. I received chemo, but I juiced every day, I received acupuncture, saw a naturopath in addition to my oncologist, meditated daily and became a (GASP!) vegetarian. I have never felt so good and in control of my health. It was the most wonderful yet horrible time of my life.

During this time, I also discovered raw foods. I had always been a big fan of fruits and veggies and tried to “eat the rainbow” every day. (That’s a serving of a raw fruit or veggie from every color of the rainbow…easy to do with a juicer.) But taking it further to become a vegan raw foodist felt like the natural next step to me. I’ve done the best I can so far without a dehydrator. And how raw I eat depends on the day and what kind of time I have, but I think winning an Excalibur dehydrator would boost me into the next level of the raw food lifestyle I plan on living.

Today, I’m cancer free and plan on being so for the rest of my life. I (and my doctors) attribute my success to the changes I made in my diet and lifestyle. I’ve never felt like so many things were possible before. Add to that the gratitude of being a survivor…everything is possible. Thanks so much for this opportunity to maintain wellness! :)

I would love to have the Excalibur! There is nothing that I love more than being able to “cook” my cookies, baked goods, treats, and FALAFEL! I’m just starting to experiment with the raw lifestyle. My oven doesn’t go down low enough temp-wise to come close to dehydrator levels and my mini oven which does is on its last legs. As soon as she dies I’d have the perfect spot for an Excalibur!

I am dying to make crackers with my juice pulp! I also would love to make fruit leather. Yum!!

I am newish to Raw Foods (about 1 year). I became interested in raw foods to help manage a chronic health condition but so far that consists of blending/juicing (with great, noticeable results). My resolution/goal for 2010 is to incorporate dehydrated foods into the picture, so here’s hoping!

  135. Jenny S on December 10, 2009 Thursday, 5:21 pm

I want to make raw flax crackers and veggie chips! nothing beats a salty, crunchy craving like those!

  136. Jessie (Vegan-minded) on December 10, 2009 Thursday, 5:47 pm

I want to win this dehydrator so I can make homemade flax crackers and raw desserts!

Oh what a wonderful giveaway prize! Truly a great holiday gift it would be to receive. You see, i’d love to be able to take care of my soaked almonds by heating them in a super Excaliber dehydrator just to nutritional perfection. I could live on almonds! Also, just moving to a farm last year we have succeeded in getting a small orchard in and have hopes of getting the raised beds in this winter in time for spring! Pretty good for city slickers! We absolutely will need to take care of the bounty to come. Anyway, Merry Christmas to all and wishes for a yummy season of Joy. Libby B

I want to win the excalibur because I recently discovered LOTS of food allergies and am now eating a high raw diet. Being able to make my own flax crackers and fruit or veggie chips and cookies would save a Lot of money.

  139. Sha on December 11, 2009 Friday, 5:16 am

I would LOVE and NEED to have an Excalibur Food Dehydrator. I have recently become a raw vegan and love how it has made me feel inside and out. Let’s just say this is definitely a necessity in a house full of meat eaters. I want to sit down and enjoy savory meals with them and not just salads!

  140. Kathleen on December 11, 2009 Friday, 5:21 am

I have been dipping my toes into the Raw Food World and so far am Loving IT!! OOO how I wd love an Excalibur — with this dehydrator I would dive right into Raw Food Diet !

  141. Cellabella on December 11, 2009 Friday, 9:18 am

I’ve been wanting a dehydrator for the longest time! I always think it’d be much healthier and rewarding to make my own crackers and chips. I just never seemed to justify the cost of getting one, but hey, winning one would be great :)

  142. Adam on December 11, 2009 Friday, 12:01 pm

I would love to have a dehydrator to make homeade trail mixes for my various hikes! Thanks!

  143. Laura E on December 11, 2009 Friday, 8:59 pm

Wow! What a great giveaway and I loved your poem too! I’ve never had any appliance like this, but I’d definitely want to make raw crackers/cookies and macaroons! Thanks for the opportunity.

  144. martie on December 12, 2009 Saturday, 1:07 am

I’ve never used a dehydrator before, but as I transition into high raw, I’d love to have one! The Excalibur looks like a great brand to use.

  145. Kristin on December 12, 2009 Saturday, 5:19 pm

I have actually been looking at Excalibur dehydrators for about 2 weeks now, but haven’t been able to “bite the bullet” and pay the price. I would LOVE to win a dehydrator for free, to help in my raw/vegan endeavor. Thanks for having this offer. I hope I win. :o)

  146. Leslie @LaMamaNaturale on December 12, 2009 Saturday, 5:34 pm

omg! Let’s see I would use it to, dry fruits, banana pancakes, kale & root chips, eggplant bacon, veggie burgers, bread…all I want for X-Mas is a dehydrator! Thanks for making it slightly possible :)

  147. Laura on December 13, 2009 Sunday, 7:33 pm

Oh! I’ve always wanted a dehydrator. I live in a cold climate, and it would be so nice to make some raw desserts and breads during the winter that are a little warmer and more cooked-like. I also LOVE nuts and seeds, and would prefer to soak them and then dry them, but it’s such a hassle with the oven.

Im too late to enter the drawing but I can’t resist the urge for bad poetry.

    Roses are red
    Violets are Blue(are they edible?)
    I was thinkin’ beef jerkey…
What! you can dehydrate fruit and veggies Too?
