The 2nd Annual Holiday Giveaway continues….

Knives, an absolute kitchen necessity. Having a collection of good quality cutlery is a must. Traditional steel cutlery is a general staple but have you tried ceramic knives? They are a pleasure to use and have some advantages over stainless steel knives.

What’s so great about a ceramic knife? The blade is made of zironium oxide making it ultra-sharp, beating most stainless steel knives in the sharpness department and can last for years without sharpening. It’s stain-proof, rust-proof, nonstick, light weight, has no metallic taste or smell, won’t alter the appearance of food, and is super easy to clean.

Kyocera Ceramic Knife

Kyocera Ceramic Knife

The ceramic knife brand that is part of my kitchen cutlery collection is Kyocera. It cuts like a dream. Use this ceramic knife to cut a tomato and it’s love a first slice. It’s like a dream slicing, dicing, and chopping fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs, etc.

Kyocera Ceramic Peeler

Kyocera Ceramic Peeler

The super-efficient ceramic peelers are wonderful. The peeler blade has the same qualities and benefits as the ceramic knife. Peeling fruits and vegetables is effortless. Both the ceramic knife and peeler are dish washer safe.

I’d love to win because, quite frankly, I don’t own a single high quality knife! this would be amazing.

  2. Pam on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 4:53 am

Beautiful! I would love to have quality items to work with in our kitchen, especially a good knife!

    Enjoy!

  3. Alesha on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 4:57 am

Ok, for some reason, I had NO IDEA that Kyocera made cutlery, as well as copiers! I only know them from my days of working in an office!

I did like their product then, and I’m sure I would like these as well. Have been wanting to try out the ceramic knives, as standard knives seem so heavy to me, especially with all the peeling, cutting, trimming, etc. that goes with this raw lifestyle. :o)

  4. Laura on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 5:36 am

I’m a college student, and thus have no kitchen equipment of my own yet. But, I would love to start building! I do a lot of cooking, so having a good quality knife would be a lifesaver. I also want to try vegetable pasta, and I think the peeler could help with that!

  5. Kat on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 5:41 am

I want this set because I’m so tired of putting up with bad knives… both from that store that starts with I and from “free” sets that come with appliances… I’m at that stage in life where I feel like I deserve a good knife and peeler!

  6. Kristie Lynn on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 6:12 am

I’d love this set because I chop fruits and veggies all the time, and because my peeler now is very low quality and I end up peeling off parts of my finger if I’m not careful :-(

  7. Sarah on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 6:14 am

I’ll be getting my first apartment soon, and I will be cooking on my own for the first time. I’d love to have some really high quality tools to use in the kitchen! I’d love to win!

  8. Anna on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 6:55 am

How many times have I nicked my fingers with not-so-great knives? I can’t even tell you! I would very much appreciate being able to slice and peel veggies with ease – especially the root veggies! Thanks for the consideration!

  9. denise on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 7:39 am

Chopping is honestly my favorite thing to do in the kitchen. Most people are so annoyed with prep work, but I love it! Also, my “stainless steel” knives are starting to RUST! Ugh!

Thanks for having all these giveaways!

  10. ChocolateOrchid on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 7:45 am

I’d love to win this this set because I need some high quality cutlery. It’s an absolute must when dealing with food. This would be the first step in improving my cutting seeing as I haven’t taken a class on knife skills. This would definitely give me reason to enroll in a class specifically for that. I dare not go into a class with the basic knives that I already own.

  11. Jess on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 8:17 am

I would love to have this because I have a really crappy cheap knife that is kinda dangerous to use!

  12. Janice on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 8:17 am

DEFINITELY enter me please!! I want to win these items because #1 – I have gone through, literally, 50 peelers. They all suck. They let me down, they break, etc. #2 – With being raw I need to take care of a lot of veggies! This knife just looks so sleek and sexy and you’ve sold me on its quality!

    THANKS for the opportunity!
    Janice

  13. elena on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 8:35 am

I can tell you why I would like a ceramic knife–I heard they have to be sharpened only about once every 5 years ;) that would make it a perfect match for me. Seriously. Oh, and I think I did make it on the NICE list this year :)

  14. Laureen on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 8:36 am

I live on a boat, and no matter how “stainless” knives are, they all end up being corroded and rusty and dull and OUCH eventually. I would LOVE to be able to report back about how awesome ceramic is for the boating world…

  15. Cellabella on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 8:52 am

I’d love to have a new knife that doesn’t need constant re-sharpening. I always stick to one knife when cooking, and it gets dull so quickly where I can’t even break the skin on a tomato! And I’ve heard great things about ceramic knives :)

  16. Katie on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 9:22 am

I would love a good knife because I chop vegetables and apples all the time! That peeler would definitely come in handy too!!!

  17. Nicole on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 9:30 am

You are just full of awesome giveaways aren’t you Ingrid?!?!

I would really LOVE to have a set of ceramic kitchen tools! I have been wanting to try these for a long time but haven’t gotten around to it. Thanks for giving me the chance to stop procrastinating : )

  18. Beverly Bass on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 9:36 am

Anxious to try….have never used a ceramic knife before.

  19. Wishinoo on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 9:37 am

i’d like this ceramic set because all i have are knives made out of metal!
and it would be nice to be on the…
    cutting edge…
    of cutlery!

  20. Viviana on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 9:47 am

As someone who is getting back to her creative endeavours in the kitchen, I would love this set!

  21. Rhonda on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 9:50 am

I would love to own this set as I am new to raw foods and I think it would help me on my new journey!!

  22. Camille on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 9:53 am

I’ve been lusting after Kyocera knives for ages!

  23. Blaine Tacker on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 10:23 am

Basically, my knife is terrible and has dents in the blade. Tomato-cutting hell.

  24. Angelique on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 11:35 am

I would love this set! I bought a ceramic peeler (different brand) once that was very cheap and have regretted it..it fell apart. It was lovely for a short while though, how the apples didn’t turn brown. This set would so great to have.

  25. MH on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 12:04 pm

i eat a huge salad every day, and using this to chop my veggies would be wonderful! this knife and peeler would mean no more poor battered lettuce, mooshed tomatoes, or long hours crouching over the sink peeling carrots with my paring knife! hooray for excellent kitchen utensils!

  26. Dawn on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 12:58 pm

I would love these b/c my peeler stinks and I have yet to find one I’m crazy about. I’ve been interested in ceramic knives for a while now, but haven’t tried them. I’m eager!

  27. Rick on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 1:13 pm

I want to win this set because i really need a high-quality cutting utensil, and because i didn’t know Kyocera made cutlery! I imagine the quality is top-notch and that it will make a perfect home in our kitchen!

  28. Howard P. Reynolds on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 1:22 pm

I would like this set for my son-in-law, Andrew Kumpel, an amateur cook, but who is currently with the U.S. Army stationed in Afghanistan. He is being flown home (Ft. Lewis, Washington state) for shoulder surgery this week so he will be home for Christmas.

  29. My Mans Belly on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 1:34 pm

I have a ceramic paring knife my mom gave me and love it. I just wish I had a bigger knife for things other than veggies. This would be perfect!

  30. Laura E on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 2:00 pm

Thanks so much for the opportunity! I’d like these because right now my knives all belong to my roomate and my peeler is the kind that you’d find at a dollar store!

  31. Ashley on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 2:15 pm

Well I left a different comment on facebook because I thought you were giving away a bunch of knives and I said I would give one to my friend if you gave them to me but since you’re giving away one knife and one peeler I guess we will have to share! I tried a job as a knife salesperson a few years ago in one of those pyramid scheme type jobs. So I’m really into knives but all I have are few from that job and they aren’t even that nice even though I was selling them for a lot of money. Anyway I love uncooking and would love to try a ceramic knife. Also I’d like to say that everything you’ve given away so far is AWESOME. You have great taste ;)

  32. lou cattano on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 2:23 pm

I have always wanted a ceramic knife but never really had the extra money for one.

  33. Michele on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 2:28 pm

I just posted for the Vitamix- but while learning how to create recipes for my mother who is battling cancer right now, I realized just how awful of a knife set I have. I’m in attempt to gaining all the proper quality utencils so we can have success at preparing the amount of raw foods every day that helps my mother (and my family) sustain a healthier life. Anything to make life a little easier!

  34. Serena on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 2:53 pm

I would love these! This is so great! I just started reading about ceramic knives and am amazed at what they can do. My current steel knives are about 10 years old and require a tremendous amount of strength to cut produce and fruit. I was just saying to my hubby the other day that I want some ceramic knives, to which he replied, “yes I hear they are great. In fact, a lot of Japanese chefs use ceramic knives exclusively. But they are mucho dinero.” To which I replied, “well I guess I better put them on my wishlist.” ;-)

  35. Rebekah Eaton on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 3:03 pm

I would love to win this set, first of all every time I cook something, I hate my knives, they are dull and stainless steel. I’ve always mentioned ceramic knives on wish lists for presents. The peeler would be great too, I switch between 2 crapy peelers as well. I love to cook and slicing onions and tomatoes is always a chore with dull knives.

  36. Catialena on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 3:43 pm

It would be nice to know how it feels to create a meal without blood, sweat and tears… (from the onions!) What current knives I have do not keep a shape blade, well… just long enough to become dull and slip to an end result of cutting myself, instead of my vegetables! Seems I spend more time sharping than enjoying the time of creating a beautiful tasteful meal.

Thank You so much for providing the opportunity to own such a wonderful kitchen luxury! I will keep my fingers crossed that my days are numbered to dull thoughts of making dinner!

  37. Jane Kowalski on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 4:34 pm

To have a knife that actually cuts something???? Oh, my heart be still!

  38. Mindy McAuley on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 5:14 pm

I have been hearing for some time about the fabulous Kyocera knives, and all the good attributes they possess, how helpful they are in the raw food kitchen etc. Would love to experience them up close! Thank you for the opportunity.

  39. Jess on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 5:37 pm

I’d like to win this knife because I’ve asked my parents to buy it for me for a Christmas present, but if I win it I’ll ask them to donate the money to a charity of your choice instead!

  40. Sarah on December 16, 2009 Wednesday, 6:04 pm

I’d love to win!!! I’ve made do with poor quality cutlery for way to long, it’s just hard to splurge on tools for myself in the kitchen when I have a family with needs that seem more important than my own. Thanks for this opportunity.

    Hugs,
    Sarah

I need a new knife so bad – I could ride to Boston and back on the ones I have! :) I just never seem to take the time to get new ones. Would love to win one in your Holiday giveaway!

  42. drue on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 4:41 am

I have a tired, old knife block set from some fly-by-night producer that I “inherited” when I got married 11 years ago. (Apparently, my husband’s parents thought this was a good deal) While the chef’s knife is adequate it always looses sharpness prompting my husband to get out his sharpening stone. I don’t wish to take away his chance to get out such a manly accessory but I’d really, really like a knife that is always there when I needed it and didn’t weigh a ton. I’ve never been able to “shop” for a knife as the kids are always in tow and my attention is distracted. Thanks.

  43. Nancy on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 5:24 am

I would love to have this set as I have carpal tunnel and it is hard for me to use a knife. A nice sharp one like this will make it easier for my hands to prep living food.

    Thanks.

  44. Robin K Moyer on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 6:42 am

I personally would “almost” die for these tools! There are one of the few “must” haves in anyones kitchen that I have not broke down and bought yet. But I have had the pleasure of using the ones that a dear raw chef friend of mine has. It was simply heavenly divine working with them! I’d love to own them both.

I must say Dear Sweet Beautiful Ingrid, or should I call you Mrs. Santa Claus?! You are so sweet to always be working so hard to keep us all informed with great health tips and recipes and constantly giving gifts. Thank you for blessing my life! It is a pleasure knowing you. Much love and many blessings! Robin :)

  45. Becki on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 8:56 am

This knife and peeler would be wonderful to have in my kitchen… I need a new knife! :)

  46. Allysia on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 10:41 am

I love sweet potatoes. Oh, lovely sweet potatoes! But trying to chop a sweet potato with a flimsy, bendy, dull knife is difficult! Sometimes, chunks of sweet potato fly across the room! Not to mention the peeling. The part of my peeler that does the peeling (the crucial part) likes to break off and fall in the garbage. And…it’s very good at camoflauging. Suffice to say, I would love a competent knife/peeler!

  47. andra on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 2:06 pm

Hello and happy holidays :) I see the spirit of giving and grace in your blog. I would be interested in this drawing (and the past ones) but cannot log onto facebook due to not having facebook (because of my job). These utensils look wonderful and I would use them to assist me in the kitchen as I meander down the road to health. Peace, andra

  48. Hannah on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 3:21 pm

    To work out my aggression.

Just kidding! I’d love to have these to venture into the world of ceramic cutlery.

  49. Angie on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 3:45 pm

Ohhh, that knife looks gorgeous — I prefer dicing my veggies by hand rather than use a food processor 24/7, so my knives need constant sharpening! A ceramic knife would be a dream.

  50. christopher h on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 7:44 pm

i’ve been slowly trying to upgrade my kitchen utensils

  51. brenda helgeson on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 8:16 pm

I am in need of a good knife.

  54. Leslie Caplan on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 9:41 pm

Hmmm…where do I start? I’ve wanted to try a ceramic knife ever since watching Ming Sung rave about his years ago, but I haven’t wanted to spend all that money to find out for myself. If I won this set, I’d get my own experience uncolored by cost.

  55. Rebecca Graham on December 17, 2009 Thursday, 11:06 pm

  60. Shannon on December 18, 2009 Friday, 5:57 am

  63. mickeyfan on December 18, 2009 Friday, 8:33 am

I have been longing to try a ceramic knife, but alas, one has yet to find it’s way into the cutlery drawer. Make my Christmas merrier, please.

  69. Amy S on December 18, 2009 Friday, 12:43 pm

I used to have a ceramic knife and I broke the tip off it. I can’t recall now how that happened but I do remember it was a great knife. This would be a great replacement along with a bonus peeler.

  70. janeh on December 18, 2009 Friday, 1:10 pm

I would love to try the ceramic knife…I’ve heard so many good things about them..and I need a new peeler……mine is ancient and not that great! Happy Holidays!

  72. Jennifer B. on December 18, 2009 Friday, 1:31 pm

  73. shawna on December 18, 2009 Friday, 3:13 pm

I would love this because all our knives are cheap and don’t cut well and I could really use a new peeler!

  74. Kim H. on December 18, 2009 Friday, 6:11 pm

I’ve heard that ceramic was great for knives, but I’ve never had the nerve to actually go and buy a set. I’d love to see what they’re like. THanks so much!

  81. bitt on December 18, 2009 Friday, 8:53 pm

  82. Mark/CharmCity on December 18, 2009 Friday, 9:09 pm

Ceramic cutlery is widely heralded, I’d love to sate my curiosity with this win!

  83. Auriette on December 18, 2009 Friday, 10:53 pm

I’ve always heard that ceramic blades are amazing. The other reason I’d like it is that we don’t have central heat and air, so we don’t have much climate control, and in the Florida humidity, some of my knives have rust on them. Not a problem with ceramic.

  84. Dree on December 18, 2009 Friday, 11:43 pm

I want to win because my current peeler is awful. I can’t get a clean peel and would love to try this.

I haven’t even heard of ceramic knives before checking out your site but I am more than willing to try one – the peeler too.

  92. Karen Clark on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 6:22 am

I tried this knife and peeler at a food show. They are fantastic. I just couldn’t part with the money to buy it but, it would be tops on my wish list. Quite frankly, not having to sharpen them is a giant plus. My knifes are all old, knicked and low quality, I would love these.

  93. Deborah on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 7:27 am

Those ceramic knives are soooo Hopenhagen that I feel like hugging a tree…How come will they save the whale? Easier to clean = less water
used. Lighter weight = less carbon footprint when the manufacture shipped them to Ingrid and then when she ships them to me! I promise to
reuse and then recycle the packaging while I snack on some hard-to-chop
    carrot sticks….yum!

  107. Brian E. on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 4:12 pm

Thanks for the giveaway…We are desperately in need of a good SHARP knife in our kitchen, for no better reason than that I want to finish 2010 with all my fingers intact !!! My wife (the Head Chef in our family) routinely “assigns” me the kitchen prep duties of cutting & chopping vegetables but she expects me to perform with substandard cutting implements…Help !!!

  108. Dddiva on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 4:21 pm

We are trying to replace all of our “make do” kitchen tools with quality ones and these would be wonderful to add to our collection.

  109. linda on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 4:35 pm

because i really, really, really want my top quality organic raw food to get top quality treatment right from the first cut. there’s not much worse than pouring your heart and soul into a beautiful dish and laying it on the cutting board only to have it torn apart by a slightly rusted ’stainless steel’ steak knife that i picked up at second hand store, geesh :)

  110. mineola on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 4:36 pm

I’d love to be able to slice fruits & veggies & not have them immediately start to brown – using a ceramic knife neatly sidesteps this problem!

  111. Chrysa on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 5:24 pm

I got my sister a Kyocera knife for Christmas last year and now I want my own.

  114. Annette D on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 5:34 pm

I would love to win! All of my knives end up being used by my sons or husband for tools! If I won, I’d have to hide it from them. Thanks for the chance.

  130. Marie Noguerole on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 9:58 pm

I’m trying to teach my son how to be the best chef possible while he is still young enough. He says he wants to own his own restaurant someday and he seems to have a real sense of taste and seasoning when it comes to cooking. Having a great knife or knives is essential for getting a feel and command in one’s kitchen. That is why I would love to win the Kyocera Ceramic Knife and Peeler. That would be one of my Christmas surprises for him. The other is a savings program to help pay his way through culinary school.

  131. Gianna on December 19, 2009 Saturday, 10:10 pm
