I love my Kyocera knives and kitchen tools and I like introducing people to them. Having good quality cutlery is a must and the Kyocera brand is a part of my cutlery collection. I also own their ceramic peeler, mandoline, and the everything mill. When house guest or people from raw food classes I’ve taught try my Kyocera knife, they love it. It slices effortlessly. No roughed up tomatoes with this knife. It slices a tomato like a dream, and dicing, and chopping fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs, etc., is sheer ease.

The ceramic peeler is lovely. Its blade has the same qualities and benefits as the ceramic knife. Peeling fruits and vegetables is also effortless.

What’s so else besides ease of slicing and peeling makes these ceramic kitchen tools so great? The ceramic blade is made of zironium oxide making it ultra-sharp, beating most stainless steel knives in the sharpness department and can last for years without sharpening. It’s stain-proof, rust-proof, nonstick, light weight, has no metallic taste or smell, won’t alter the appearance of food, and is super easy to clean. Both are dishwasher safe.

I’d like to introduce you to this knife and peeler. I have one of each to giveaway: one 5″ easy-to-grip ceramic knife, and one advanced ceramic peeler!!

    First of all, happy b-day!

Secondly, I have been dreaming to try ceramic knives. I spend way too much time in the kitchen and having a knife I would not have to sharpen as often will sure make it even more fun for me.

  2. Janell on June 21, 2010 Monday, 2:39 pm

I would love this because I have terrible knives. I even cut myself once. Plus I really didn’t know what type to get and this is a great opportunity.

I’m moving to a new apartment in a new city and I’d looove a set of these knives, they are my favourites! Ceramic equipment really is the best… It would be a fantastic surprise moving gift :).

Oh my! I have been looking around for a quality knife. My current knives are dull and since adding more and more raw foods to my diet I have realized that great knives are a necessity. I would love to win!

  13. Emily on June 21, 2010 Monday, 5:13 pm

I’d love to have these! I spend so much time cutting vegetables and fruits every day, and all my knives are dull and difficult to work with. This would make life so much easier!

  14. Blaine Tacker on June 21, 2010 Monday, 5:41 pm

I NEED the kyocera ceramic knives because I’ve squashed way too many beautiful tomatoes with my crappy old knife!

  15. Michelle Gilbert on June 21, 2010 Monday, 5:59 pm

Yes! Happy birthday and happy solstice!

I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome (as a matter of fact, I’m dictating this response!), which makes life and my work very challenging. Anything I can do to reduce effort for my hands is absolutely necessary, such as having great tools to make easier work of my food prep.

I eat a raw diet to help a genetic condition, and it has really transformed my quality of life. So much so that I’m considering training to help others go raw :-)

    Oh, and I tweeted! I’m @sarvasoap.

    Thanks for this great offer!

  16. Rosie on June 21, 2010 Monday, 6:08 pm

I’d love to own one so I can peel vegies and fruit without it going off! Also it would be awesome to show people ‘down under’ in Australia the benefits of ceramic kitchen tools.

  17. Kat on June 21, 2010 Monday, 6:30 pm

My sad old peeler is having a tough time these days – we used it the other day to do shaved asparagus and it was a struggle. And my knives aren’t in much better shape. I have wanted to try these for ages!

  18. cynthia on June 21, 2010 Monday, 6:39 pm

I’ve been very interested in these knifes. I have not tried it yet but I would love to.

A super sharp knife is essential in any kitchen and mine are approaching their use-by date.

I would love these because they’re well designed, functional and low maintenance – the perfect kitchen companion!

  20. Tamikko on June 21, 2010 Monday, 7:32 pm

I would love to win this set because our knives and peeler are so cheap and hurts my shoulder to use them. I’ve heard alot of great things about the Kyocera ceramic knives, such as, the fruit you cut won’t oxidize as quickly with no contact from metal, no metallic taste, never needs sharpening and sharper then any other knife. A must have :)

  21. Earth Mother – In The Raw on June 21, 2010 Monday, 7:33 pm

    Helloooooo!

I want to be like Ingrid when I grow up (and have big girl utensils).

  23. Ariel on June 21, 2010 Monday, 8:07 pm

I’d love to win this set because I’ve been using dull knives for far too long and the Kyocera products sound wonderful. I cut and peel so many fruits and vegetables every day and I’m sure that it would make an enormous difference to have such fine kitchen tools!

  24. Cellabella on June 21, 2010 Monday, 9:15 pm

I’ve heard a lot about ceramic knives and have wanted to try one for a few years now. I’m also getting low on good knives and it’d be great to have a high quality one!

  25. Alyssa on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 2:36 am

Those are beautiful kitchen products! I would love a nice sharp knife to help me chop the heck out of veggies, and a peeler that’s not always spinning around in its socket when I’m trying to peel a potato.

  26. Christy on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 4:25 am

I’ve never tried any of the ceramic tools. I’m currently in the market for some new gadgets to make my raw food life easier. I’m still working with some old ‘Titanium’ brand (think ginzu) knives that mush my tomatoes into paste trying to cut them. =(

    Anyway, thanks for the offer/giveaway.

  29. eeeks on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 6:05 am

What a lovely giveaway! I’d love to win this for two reasons:

    1. I’ve been wanting to compare my lovely Wusthof knives to a ceramic knife.

    2. My lovely Wusthof knives desperately need sharpening. Somehow the idea of a knife that doesn’t ever or exceedingly rarely needs to be sharpened is appealing….

  30. Shari Zerobnick on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 6:44 am

I would love to have this set because I am a raw beginner and these items would make it easier for me to prepare raw foods — ceramic is highly recommended in a raw kitchen.

I do have a Kyocera chef’s knife and paring knife. They’ve both changed my kitchen experience! So easy to slice, dice & chop. I would love another, honestly because I’ve used my so much (professionally for over a year) that it’s time to send away for sharpening and I was thinking about getting a backup while mine is on vacation! Ok–time to tweet! Thanks for the awesome giveaway and good luck to all!

The kitchen gremlins have been at it again in our household. First, they snapped the tip off my favorite knife. Then, they made off with my vegetable peeler. I’m making due with a craptacular peeler for now, but I kind of hope the gremlins decide to take it as well. Perhaps if I try these ceramic ones they won’t know what they won’t recognize them, and I’ll finally be able to peel and chop all my garden-fresh produce with ease again. Thanks for sharing!

  38. Amber Leipner on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 7:21 am

I have been shopping around for a a good new knife and have read great reviews on ceramic knives and would love to win so I can test it out and possibly buy a few more. I am a newlywed so my days in the kitchen have more than doubled and with a new COOL toy my hubby might even be more enthusiastic about helping me:)

  39. Bonnie on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 7:22 am

I would love to replace my old knives and try the ceramic knife and peeler. I go through knives very quickly as they grow dull and don’t meet up to it’s expectations. My knives are heavy and hard to grip and I have more knives than any other utensils I own. I’ve tried all kinds, even nice, expensive brands and thought stainless steel was the only way to go. Razor sharp precision and weight is a big factor and I love how light ceramic utensils are. I never got around trying them because I have spent so much trying new knives. Given the opportunity to try out the kyocera ceramic knife and peeler would be great and if it works as well as it claims, I’d be happy to replace or add to my cutlery. Thank you for this opportunity.
    Cheers!

I would love to have to set because I have only had the priviledge of experiencing the knives and peeler through a raw food chef friend of mine when we get together and do pot lucks for raw food meet-ups. I’ve asked several times to borrow or please let me have and for them to purchase another but the answer was always the same no. They cut beautifully and will last you a life time as long as you know how to treat them. I love her knives and would love to win one of my own. THank you and have a blessed day.

    Hello!
I just tweeted (@PurelySimpleRaw) the giveaway! Thanks for the extra points!!!

I would LOVE this set! I have been admiring ceramic knives and cutlery for so long, and would love to have the opportunity to use these. I am beginning to teach raw foods classes in an area where NOBODY is eating raw! So it’s super important for me to bring the best equipment and information to people through my classes, and cutting with standard knives just won’t “cut it.” Haha, pun intended! :)

Plus, I am transitioning my husband to raw foods. He’s a cancer survivor, and creating the best, most nutritious meals for him is super important, and this set of knives would really help out. He’s only 29 years old, and living this lifestyle will do wonders for his health.

Thanks for this opportunity, I really look forward to hearing who you pick as the winners!

    Thanks,
    Jenny Mrkobrad

  59. Carrie Elsass on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 10:39 am

I am moving to a healthier diet and would LOVE to have these for all the fresh local veggies I’ll be incorporating into my diet!

  60. Charmaine on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 10:42 am

Thank you for this wonderful give away! I would so love to win this set coz I’ve read that ceramic knives and peelers will help keep raw fruits and veggies fresh longer, with much less oxidation taking place on the parts/sides that touched the knife compared to cutting or peeling them with a regular steel knife or peeler. I also know that ceramic knives and peelers are much easier to use, especially when it comes to cutting food with precision. They hardly need sharpening as well. This set would make a perfect addition to my raw kitchen, so I hope I win :)

  61. Lauren on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 10:53 am

    Happy Birthday! :)

I’d like to win because my knives suck! And I make my hubby nervous when I have to chop! ;)

  64. Jody on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 10:59 am

PS – The reason why I’d like to win this set is mainly because it can’t rust. That certainly means a longer life for the product.

  65. Noelle on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 11:05 am

I need a good chopping knife for the veggies I have and use and of course a peeler always comes in handy.

  66. Angelique on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 11:08 am

Great giveaway! I bought a very cheap ceramic peeler once and it fell apart so I’d love to replace it with a quality peeler and knife. I’ve heard good things about this brand.

  67. Lee T Ward on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 11:20 am

I have recently started incorporating raw cuisine in my otherwise vegan diet so at this time I am continuing to set up my kitchen to make my entire food experience more entertaining. Also I own a primate sanctuary and they have a similar diet as to what I am now being a part of so the amount of foods I cut on a daily basis is staggering so again anything to make my compassion for foods better is a major plus for me.

    Thank you
    Lee

  70. Lorri on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 12:06 pm

Top 10 reason’s I would like to win the Kyocera knife and peeler:

    10. Because I am high raw and spend far too much time cutting veggies to shreds even if they aren’t supposed to be shredded!
    9. Because I only have one leg (really)
    8. Because I have only one leg due to bone cancer(really)
    7. Because I almost sliced my finger tip off last summer peeling a jicama (really)
    6. Because I don’t want to loose any more appendages (really)
    5. Because I’m trying to play the cancer, brain fog and amputee card to win… (and if ya can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at???)
    4. Because my miracle blades really aren’t that miraculous.
    3. Because my veggies will thank you since they will be so clean cut.
    2. Because I’ll be able to scrape some of those icky pesticides off my veggies as I strip them of their outer layer.

    AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON:

    1. Did I mention it just would be fun to win something that I actually would use???

And I would tweet if I knew how to…but I’m middle aged and these new fangled techno things confuse me…..

  71. Antony on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 12:32 pm

I am a mother of 5 and I cook daily; so this would be a great asset to my kitchen. Sometimes it is harder and takes longer to create a recipe if the cutlery one is working with is not of a good quality.

    Sincerely,
    MARY ANN GALLEGOS

  74. Angelica on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 1:05 pm

Ahh! I’ve wanted a ceramic knife for so long. I personally prefer hand-dicing and slicing my fruits and veggies rather than using a food processor, so something like this would make it a smooth experience.

  90. Arvin Hsu on June 22, 2010 Tuesday, 10:52 pm

I have gone through so many peelers, I can’t even begin to count. Metal peelers inevitably bend, or become dull and catch when peeling. It’s gotten to the point that I rarely peel anything when cooking, but sometimes peeling provides that little extra bit of styling and taste to a raw dish.

For years I have been searching for a good peeler. It’s so frustrating to deal with the junk out there. This would make my life so much more pleasant. As would a good knife. We’ve had our knife set for 16 years now and they probably should have been tossed 6 years ago.

I would love to have this knife because I have a Wusthof knife that really needs to be sharpened. I don’t have a sharpener, so sometimes I use my coworker’s sharpener. It would also be lovely to have a knife made of ceramic because I hear they don’t interfere as much with the energy and flavor of the food.

I would love these because I spend a lot of time in the kitchen now. I am cooking/making/baking pretty much everything from scratch for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet that my daughter is on due to her recent ulcerative colitis diagnosis. I have never been one to enjoy spending time in the kitchen, but thanks to positive results my daughter is having and having great gadgets to work with, I’m starting to enjoy the kitchen more. I hate every peeler I have ever bought and hesitate to buy any more, but this might be my last attempt if I don’t win it first! :)

  149. Eileen on June 25, 2010 Friday, 10:20 pm

Why I’d like to have the knife and peeler? I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer that had spread to the liver in January of this year. I was told it was “uncureable”. I started researching and got some great advice to change my diet to all raw. What the heck does that mean?!!! I’d never heard of a raw diet before! Well, it’s been six months now. I feel incredible! Cancer isn’t gone yet but I’m in better shape now and am back to the same size I was when I got married 16 years ago. My husband and kids love being in the kitchen, ‘helping Mom beat the cancer’ by prepping fruits and veggies! But due to the massive expense of changing my diet to 100% organic, purchasing a juicer and a blender. We don’t have much money to spend on fun things like ceramic knives! I just started reading about them and would love to try it but… it’ll have to wait a few more months until we have a wee bit of cash “laying” around!

  150. Cynthia on June 26, 2010 Saturday, 1:05 am

I have a horrible old peeler that never works well. I really need a high tech peeler.

  151. ChocolateOrchid on June 26, 2010 Saturday, 5:43 am

Hi Ingrid! Hope all is well with you.

I would loooooove to win this set because I am in need of some high-quality cutlery. Cutting veggies with dull knives is no fun, and a tad dangerous. I’d also love to win these items because I would be able to take a Knife Skills 101 class proudly with a Kyocera Ceramic Knife. :)

  152. Carol G on June 26, 2010 Saturday, 9:19 am

I would like it because I am curious about ceramic knives–have been reading about them.

I would love this set because I eat raw foods 80% of the time ,but the knoves I have are not very good and I dont have a peeler. Would love to try some of the recipes I see using these tools:).

  161. Alice on July 2, 2010 Friday, 5:15 am

Thank you for offering this BEAUTIFUL knife/peeler set. This would be a wonderful addition to the family kitchen tool set–there are 4 budding raw chefs here–Me and three daughters are re-learning food prep in the land of pork BBQ (grilled outside)and boiled veggies swimming in butter. Sharing one great knife set (thank you SIL!)is a little inconvenient.

  162. OlyveOyl on July 2, 2010 Friday, 10:27 am

I am ready to start over with items that truly work. We have many hand-me-downs and although we have sharpened our knives (more than once) they go dull real fast. And, I never gave thought to a peeler wearing out – but ours doesn’t do much peeling – so something new that has great reviews will be great to have in the house!

  163. Holly B on July 2, 2010 Friday, 5:38 pm

I’d love a good knife, mine are all hand me downs that don’t cut very well!

  164. Priya on July 2, 2010 Friday, 8:27 pm

Since my interest in raw foods I’ve been wanting a ceramic knife for a while now, but they’re a bit pricey so I had to hold back on buying one. Because of all the benefits of ceramic blades, this would be a great tool with helping in my raw food transition. And the peeeler, well I’ll be able to do unlimited rawviolis and so much more. Thanks for the opportunity!

  165. Gena Smith on July 4, 2010 Sunday, 10:12 am

I would love this ceramic knife set for my wife who is becoming vegan. We are newly weds (a year on Aug. 8th) and she’s been working hard to make vegan meals that I’ll enjoy and will have enough balanced nutrition for me too. I was raised on meat and potatoes and now I’m happily eating sweet potato ravioli with tofu and spinach filling. I’m sure she would love this set and use it all the time.

  170. Shilo Beedy on July 6, 2010 Tuesday, 2:31 pm

  171. Laureen on July 8, 2010 Thursday, 1:49 pm

I would love to get my hands on these, because I live on a boat, and ceramic doesn’t rust! Also because I deal with a lot of doubters about raw, and uncrushed tomatoes go a long way towards that!

With my tiny kitchen and having 7 people to feed, efficiency is a must! I currently have 6 knives (one an expensive brand name that I cannot keep sharpened) and I’m always switching between them to find one sharp enough for the specific job I’m doing (tomatoes are my nightmare!). Having a low-maintenance piece of cutlery would be a dream come true. Thanks for offering this great giveaway!

    Hello!
Spending oodles of time in the kitchen allows me not only be in control what goes into my and my family’s bellies, but it also serves as time to decompress from a busy job. I have discovered raw food only a short while ago, and am already reaping some wonderful benefits. It would be great to have some new tools in the kitchen that would allow me to explore living food even more!

I would love the opportunity to win these items because although I’ve been vegan a long time – I’ve really just come across raw in all it’s vital glory & unfortunately I haven’t at all much money and Vita-Mixes, Dehydrators, Food Processors, Spiroolis, Mandolins, Ionised Water Systems, Sprouting Trays & Juicers (that which are all utilised to some degree in most raw recipes/lifestyles) are incredibly expensive – My point being, to have the luck to win such high quality tools that would last such a long time with care would not only prevent serious waste on my part from buying cheap brands that break easily, but would also be cherished as much as the gorgeous, fresh produce I would be cutting/peeling!
P.S. I am afraid I can’t add this to twitter as I place real social conversations at the very top of my important pile and therefore have neither Twitter nor Facebook.
Whatever the outcome, thank you for such a thoughtful opportunity!

But, it sounds like a few others may need it even more. :)

I want the knife and peeler because both of mine are dreadfully dull and have been wanting to try ceramic knives for awhile.

  188. Meghan on July 19, 2010 Monday, 3:27 pm

I would love to win this set because I need a new knife and our peeler has also probably seen better days. I don’t really have any knives…except for old and dull ones I never touch and so I use old steak knives to cut everything up and even then they have passed the need to be replaced date. As is I hate cutting things up and have cut myself a dozen of times, cursed, swore and complained more than a dozen of times over said knifes and that we need good chef knives as when ever I do use decent knifes at other people’s places, it seems like cutting and slicing up fruit and vegetables isn’t a chore to hate, actually it doesn’t seem like a chore at all. But I don’t have the funds to go towards new knives. And I’ve been looking into the Kyocera ceramic knives to start on the very needed knife collection, so this would be a great way to start it off.

  189. Michelle R. on July 19, 2010 Monday, 6:59 pm

  218. rebecca on July 23, 2010 Friday, 8:39 pm

Due to some loss of hand strength, it is more important now than ever that I have a good knife that does the work so I don’t have to.

  219. electricisland on July 23, 2010 Friday, 9:45 pm

I’d like these because I dont have a peeler and the knife looks like it would get most jobs in the kitchen done.

  222. Susan D on July 23, 2010 Friday, 11:47 pm

I would like to try using the Kyocera knife to see if it would make cutting onions and other unwieldy veggies easier. I could use the ceramic peeler for peeling potatoes

We are vegetarians and we eat loads of vegetables, so I really need a good sharp knife, plus a good vegetable peeler to replace my old worn out one. I have been seeing ceramic knives for a while and wanted to try one, so this would be great to win. Thanks!

  235. Shannon Katz on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 8:30 am

I could really use a sharp set of knives. The sharpest ones I have were bought at a grocery store from a suave selling knife man that showed me I can throw a lemon on it and slice it in half…haha…they are really small though so they are good for garlic and not much else. A big sharp knife would be fabulous! :)

  236. Joanne Schultz on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 9:56 am

I love trying new kitchen products – especially anything that will make my job easier! That peeler looks like it would get more peel at a time, and the knife looks wonderful and sharp!!
I’ve heard ceramic knifes need to be treated with care as they can break if you drop them.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  237. Betty on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 11:03 am

  241. Jesslyn A. on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 12:39 pm

My husband and I are both avid cooks and if we had a dollar for every knife we have bought and been disappointed by – we’d be very rich indeed and we would have a big drawer of second rate knives we never use!

We’d love to try the Kyocera Ceramic Knife (and we really NEED a good one!) – we’ve heard a lot about them – only good things!

  242. Scott on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 12:50 pm

  246. Mary G on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 1:26 pm

Thank you first! I love the peeler! Just today I cut my finger using a regular peeler, so it is hard to type. This would be great!

  247. Sonya Allstun on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 2:58 pm

I have heard that the ceramic knifes and especially this brand are real nice. So it would be nice to win one to try out and see before spending the cash to buy more of them.

  259. kim parrott on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 7:57 pm

We use lots of excuses why we don’t cook more often and one is our bad, BAD knives. This set would go a long way toward squashing our excuses and lead us toward healthier eating!

  260. Shellie on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 8:04 pm

I’m constatnly cutting and peeling veggies, so a good knife would be great. I have a ding in mine. :( Plus I’ve always wanted to try ceramic blades.

  264. Sand on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 8:39 pm

I’d love to win because I cook all the time but my knives are so dull!

  265. Brian E. on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 9:00 pm

Thanks for the giveaway…I have heard great things about the ability of ceramic knives to keep their edge but I have never used one as of yet; as for the peeler, we seem to go through one every six months or so (we use a Swedish-type metal peeler that always seems to get rusty and break, right in the middle of preparing a big family dinner). A good reliable peeler is almost as important to us in our kitchen as a good knife, so we are ready to give a peeler with a ceramic blade a try !!!

  266. Michelle H. on July 24, 2010 Saturday, 9:01 pm

I do a lot of cooking and always need a good knife and a peeler.
