Where have the days gone? The end of October is here already. We’re heading into the holiday season rather quickly. Halloween and Christmas compete for attention. Doesn’t it seem like each year Christmas decorations are on display in stores a bit early than the last? Thinking of the upcoming events and all the thing to do, and remember to do, Rosemary with its long reputation for improving memory seemed the perfect pick for herb of the month.
Rosemary originates from the Mediterranean region, so it is no surprise to find it in many Mediterranean recipes. The fresh or dried leaves add a lovely pine-like savory flavor to recipes. Winter and Spring, the rosemary plant bears tiny light blue-purple edible flowers. Rosemary goes particularly well with citrus fruits like lemon, oranges, kumquat, and with vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, fennel.

If you have a rosemary bush consider cutting a bunch of stems, bundle them together, hang it away from direct sunlight to dry, and you’ll soon have dried rosemary to use. Don’t toss away those nice woody stems. They can be used as skewers or tossed into the fireplace. Its wonderful aroma will life your spirit.
